Vehicle Theft Prevention

Vehicle Crime Statistics

The Office of National Statistics (ONS) show in 2023 car theft rose by 24.9%, with more than 130,000 vehicles of all types stolen, and an additional 9.9% rise in vehicle crime of all types, with more than 212,000 crimes.  The most common cars stolen in 2023 were Range Rover, Mercedes, and Ford Fiesta.

Helping to Protect Your Car

During the Security Crime Prevention Consultation, Jon can also undertake a risk assessment relating to the potential for the theft of the Clients Motor Vehicle(s).

Identifying your Vulnerability and Threats of Vehicle Theft

Jon will conduct a full risk assessment of your premises and the location of the Vehicle when it is parked, using his extensive knowledge and experience, to identify any vulnerabilities and threats, which might increase the risk of a criminal attacking your Vehicle. In particular Jon will research the types of vehicles being stolen, the methods being used and the locations at most risk. This will include thefts of keyless vehicles, and theft of catalytic convertors.

Identifying the Security Risk Mitigation Measures

Jon will then assess what security measures might be purchased to reduce the risk of theft of the Vehicle, by adding a level of deterrent and delay, to discourage a criminal and make them look elsewhere to commit their crime. These security measures will be proportionate in cost, to the level of risk identified, and value of assets to be protected. In many cases these security measures will be low cost, such as an RFID Wallet to prevent theft of a Keyless Car, or installing Security lights, or a CCTV camera, to protect the parking area may also be considered.
